Gamesa Energy USA has finally put up the wind test tower on the property adjacent to mine....the tower will stay up for about 2 years to assess the feasability of erecting some GIANT 400 foot tall wind generators here.....I have mixed emotions...I'm all for alternative energy, obviously...especially wind....but I'm not liking the idea of my quiet place on the hill becoming a 'local' tourist attraction.

This is the test tower.....it's over 200 feet tall with the lightening rod!

The largest wind project in New England is on Mars Hill Mountain in Maine,I can see it from my house. i have hiked up and seen it first hand. They are like beautiful sculptures. From a distance that are dotted along the ridge and don't look bad.
The townspeople hate them, i just see beauty in them and they are safe for the environment. They don't look bad and what cutting of the trees they had to do will heal I can't say that for the ski slope i also can see, that won't heal

This picure is a little fuzzy but you can click on it to get a bigger, clearer view.
This picture is of the wind turbines in the village I used to live in. To be they seem to be just another feature on the landscape....maybe over time they will seem like just as natural a part of the country as a tractor or barn...
