Boards need a report post button.

A button the a reader can click to report. This would automatically alert the Admin and moderators without lengthy messaging.

To report and not limited to:

Vulgar, and profane pictures or posts
personal attacks
disruptive trollish behavior
threads started in the wrong board (i.e. politics in general, gardening in animals, etc.)

That illustrates the point exactly............................

Spirited disagreement maybe but certainly not:

Vulgar, and profane pictures or posts
personal attacks
disruptive trollish behavior
threads started in the wrong board (i.e. politics in general, gardening in animals, etc.)

I thought this was why we had moderators ya know, inorder to moderate those "bad" people. Not trying to push your button, just expressing my humble opinion.

Folks,

There is a difference between moderating and sanitizing. The mods are here for the former, not the latter.

Disagreement, even questioning of motives and the like, if done in a civil manner so as to elicit a reasoned and reasonable response is neither vulgar, nor profane, nor a personal attack, nor trollish behavior.

This isn't kindergarten, though, on occasion, one might think so from how some members react to even the most innocent of remarks, questions, or suggestions.

If anyone comes across a post they think does cross the line, please PM the link to a moderator.

Thanks.

Yup.. I'd vote for a report post button. It's hard to cover the whole forum.. For me, at least.. :-/

Always remember.. We have a PM option too. If there's an issue that may need attention, my box is always open.. ;)

shouldn't that get it done? besides, I hope we will get back to our old, nice, polite self.

Sorry!
I can be extremely sarcastic at times, it's one of my many faults!!

The moderators do not have the time and they do not cover every forum . Yes there is the pm option, why not a system that flags questionable posts? Works on many other forums with a more spirited audience.

While the mods do have limited time, as do we all, they do respond to PMs. All such a button would probably do is send a PM or email to the admin or mods anyway.

That said, when I get a bit of time, I'll see if I can find an add-on or hack for this version that adds a notification button.

That is all we can ask. Thank you.

I was under the impression that all posts are monitored for the prescribed criteria as defined by mods since some of these are a bit subjective. Would they not curb it in the bud. If that is not possible then you need some more mods perhaps. Then each would have less to monitor. This button business smacks of everyone becoming a mod in addition to the mods.

I usually check in sometime during the day although i rarely login unless I have something to say. I have seen no vulgar and crude language, subversive ideas, disrespect, etc.

Oh BTW, I forgot...Is the Chat room monitored also?

Exactly!

This isn't kindergarten...

So why the need for a tattletale button??

Easy answer.. Nope! If ya don't like what ya see, you have the option to leave. Usually it's a lot of fun..

Today I logged on at 2:00 pm Pacific time. The clock at the top of the page said 8:00.

What time zone/country is this forum based in? ???

Naughty Pines,

Please read the new notice in News & Announcements. It'll explain the now-fixed problem.

Thanks for asking the question, which called it to my attention!!

Since any issue that would cause a post to get reported is very specific
I agree that a PM will do a better job of getting the root cause of that
issue much faster.

I was wondering if you had found the time and the code to make this possible?

I did look briefly some time ago without success, then I kinda sorta just forgot.

I manage a number of websites and, honestly, the report button fell into the "when I get some free time" category.

If anyone wants to do some sleuthing, the Forum runs on YaBB 1 Gold - SP 1.4, though mods for 1.3 will sometimes work, too.

If anyone locates the modification, please send me the link and I'll schedule time to test and, hopefully, install it.

I have been looking occasionally, I haven't found a direct link to the code. I have found numerous other posts, asking for the same thing or congratulating their admin for installing one.

It is like a cast iron pinata, I keep whacking away at it.
