I got curious this AM about the price of natural gas. I don't use it but a story about Russia cutting off the supply to the Ukraine got my intrest aroused. I checked the price in the US. I see the price is almost halved from it's June price, I'm wondering why the story about lower natural gas prices here in the US going down for consumers only states a 10% decline. Gasoline has gone down considerably, has anyone using natural gas seen a big savings?[url=http://http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/ngw/ngupdate.asp[/url]

I use propane, and the bills seem to have gone down some. I normally don`t use the furnace to heat the house, just to cook and heat the water, so I can`t tell for sure. My chimney cracked and I`m not able to burn wood, so, I`m forced to use the propane furnace these last 2 months.

that price is probably the wholesale price, depending on how your contract is set up you mite not see that price yet. for me I buy the gas from the city so it takes a few months for the price to change. it kind of sucks but I guess they are just making up for when the price want way up and it took them some time to raise it. so far my bill has been about the same this winter as last.

I just had propane delivered today and the price was up from last year.
100 Gal was $295 in Dec. 2007
100 Gal was $315 today

I only use the propane for cooking so that will last a year.

Eric,
I am shopping for a wood fired cookstove for cooking and I`m looking to build an array of passive solar water heaters so I can avoid paying for propane altogether.

the price of propane soared with the beginning of the war with Iraq. We bought some concessions from Pakistan by subsidizing THEIR propane ( they were getting it for a nickle a gallon). I suspect the USA users were paying for theirs. I tried to find a reference, I cannot as it happened too long ago I guess, around 2003? The links no longer work.
