Barbra Walters interviewed the top oil shiek in Arabia. He reveiled that they want us to be dependent on oil and they regulate the price to keep us there. We got to stop bailing out our auto industry and put our money to better use.

Oh yes I DID watch it. I NEVER watch 60 Minutes, but this one I had to see. I think it wasn't Barbara Walters doing the interview but Lesley Stahl, the really skinny one.

I was shocked by that guy's demeanor. Yes, indeed, he (they, OPEC) want to keep the US dependant on oil. After all, it's about Saudi Arabias only product and I think they said makes up 75% of their economy.

Did you notice the hypocrisy when he was talking about how, basically, all the other countries in the world will have no alternatives to oil in the next "10, 20, 30" years as he said, ver batim, because they cannot come up with alternatives? And yet how Saudi Arabia is going to lead the world in solar technology and be the leading exporter of energy in the world? OK, so in his mind, Saudi Arabia can develop alternatives to oil, but he didn't mention that it is because they have so much wealth because of American dollars (he said America was their 'best customer') and to a lesser degree other countries.

I wonder if that soulless snake in the grass thinks we are too stupid to read between the lines or to understand cause and effect?

I wish to God we could become independant of Saudi oil, just to p*** them off. They want us under their thumb in terms of oil. They want to be free to manipulate the market with fabricated 'complications' so they can find out just where the breaking point is for fuel cost for American citizens. Like milking a cow--you want to extract as much milk as is physically possible without killing the cow. Soulless bastards.

oil is a finite resource, so someday they'll run out and:

It's okay tho, they have sand, not soil,
and in place of water, they have oil,
doesn't matter how hard they toil,
will they starve first or will they*broil?

IF we keep our heads we will prevail in the end, our potential is so much greater. We just need to not let foreign nationals buy anothe square inch of US soil.

We have at our disposal the perfect solution to this "problem":

U.S.: "How much is a barrel of oil?"
Saudi Prince:"$200."
U.S.: "What a coincidence! We happen to have wheat, corn, and a multitude of other foods that cannot grow in your barren desert land for $200 a bushel! Wanna trade?"
Saudi Prince: "NO!"
U.S.: "Good. EAT YOUR SAND. We're busy drilling back home." ;D

doc, I wish you were the one in charge, instead of our lamebrain useless politicians! * :D

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

If I WERE in charge, I would immediately attempt to change things, a shift to what America USED to have in the past: common sense, common decency, and a healthy respect for Jane and John Q. Citizen's INALIENABLE rights.

But even if I wanted to change things back to what they should be, the Congress and Senate would try every trick in the book to keep me from doing what needs to be done, within the restraints of the Constitution. They wouldn't want me, or anyone else for that matter, messing with their PORK. ::)

But, I digress.....where's Teddy Roosevelt when you need him? ;D
