ANWR not the frosty paradise it's cracked up to be

By Jonah Goldberg

McCain said he wouldn't drill in the ANWR for the same reason he "would not drill in the Grand Canyon ... I believe this area should be kept pristine."

This is well worth a quick read to see just how misguided McCain is and the tactics of the liberal media and wacko environmentalists are using to keep us from the immense oil reserves in our own back yard.

Goldberg postulates on how pristine the Grand Canyon could possibly be what with millions of annual visitors, hiking, picnicking, mule rides, rafting, camping, campfires, RV'ers and hotels that all must be impacting that area in a negative way.

He indicates that the proposed drilling area is not what the drive-by media is showing us on the 6:00 o’clock news, but rather the glorious parts of the ANWR.

He outlines the size and environment of the proposed drilling area, nothing resembling the tear jerking anecdotal reports that lead us to believe that we would be condemning ourselves ruination should we disturb this "pristine" area.

Not that we could improve our lot much since these same elements have done everything in their power to not permit any additional refining resources to be constructed…

Of course, McCain just today waffled on his stand regarding drilling in the United States. He indicates that with the nature of the current crisis we should end the moratorium on states to find and develop new oil resources.

Perhaps seeing the light (finally) he may be on the road to the faintest possibility of being elected…

We darn sure don’t need the liberal factions in power telling us how “lucky” we are that the price of fuel is higher than ever.
