I just purchased a 7000 watt generator to use at the house for backup power. It is a gas generator but I'm considering putting a propane conversion on it so that I can run it off our out house propane tank. Wondered if anyone had done this before? Is there any harm in doing this to a generator designed for gas? I've done some reading and have yet to find any mention of problems as a result of this conversion but I thought I'd double check here. Any input would be appreciated.

The conversion kit I'm looking at is from these folks:

We had some small propane engines in the oil patch. The main cuss I had with them was this. Each propane company puts grease in with their propane. It can plug any system if there is too much mixed in. I have had it also plug up a pilot light. Back when people used to run the propane stores, you could get a answer on how much grease should be in their product. But now that question usually falls on uninformed/don't care personell.
Cleaning that out of the system was maddening to say the least. You never knew if you had a bad system until it stopped the engine.
The other problem we had was temprature. It can get low enough that the propane will not flow in the system. It will happen in a storm in winter.
