While I was at walmart I noticed they had 6v lead acid lantern batteries. They were made for game camera's. Has anyone ever tried these in a lantern? Seems to me they would work great, and last for several years like a car battery. They are rechargable, and not too out of reach at $10 each. The lanterns put out a lot of light, and the regular batteries last for quite awhile. This looks like it would be one step up. Thanks for any input,

Do they look like the standard lantern battery with the springs on the top?

If they're a sealed type with the spade terminal connectors, it's not that good of a deal. I get 7 amp hour sealed batteries for 5 dollars each, 25 Ah for 12, and 105's for 25. The 7's are new, the 25's and 105's are used, but you'd never know it, they're in perfect condition.
If they're the big ones with the spring terminals, they're a zinc-chloride, not lead/acid, and Radio Shack has them for $4.99 each.

Yes they are just like the regular lantern batteries with the spring posts on the top, and they do say rechargable, lead acid right on the lable.
