Hmmm... is this for real?

http://www.glumbert.com/media/candlepower

Haven't had time to check if it's legit or a prank.

If it works, it could make for a useful after-dark
reading lamp, with the candles providing some
ambient light and powering a brighter reading
light.

I made a peltier powered fan 20 years ago by glueing two heatsinks on either side and putting one in the flame.

That demonstration is a farce.

Why... if a potato and/or a lemmon can power a lightbulb, why not 2 lit candles? By the way, a little bit of googling shows lots of comments to the same video on other sites, where other people have tried it and had it work... even one comment of a guy recharging double AA's a measureable amount after an hour of the candles burning.

No, it's a total fraud! A potato or lemon completes an electrical circut because it is a contiguous block of electrolite. Wax is an insulator, besides, the two candles are not touching. The wooden table is an insulator also. As you can see, the electrical wires are draped over the edge of the table. They are probubly attached to a battery that is taped to the bottum of the table.

Except the part where he throws the wires onto the table completely in view and the bulb is still on...

It's total B.S. ::)

Here's what I posted at another site..

"Did ya notice they never let ya see the bottom of the candles? Things that make ya go... "Hmmm" "

"My hypothesis..

(2) iron core coils under the table, directly under the candles, with an A.C. voltage applied to create a magnetic flux field through the table.. (180 degrees out of phase)

In the candles.. A metal collector "base" to collect the flux field with a coil around another iron core to produce an A.C. voltage, rectified with a diode/capacitor configuration in one or both of the candles and a "convenient" area so the nail could connect to the output of the coils in the candles..

Did ya ever see those candles that are hollowed out to store stuff in?

Patrick,
I see you're new to the forum. Welcome and thanks for the link.

I love this kind of stuff, and as some of the folks pointed out, it must be a trick. But it's a pretty good one!

I kept playing it back until I could grab a print screen to catch them in their mischief, and this is it:

The light bulb came on an instant before the second candle! ;)

Keep on posting - it keeps us on our toes! (And sometimes, on YOUR toes, too, but it's meant in fun!)
