Hi all, it's been quite a while since I've posted.. LOTS of new 'faces' since I was a regular!!!
Wanted to let anyone who's interested know who I am before I get in trouble here like I did at Countryside, lol!
It's been probably two years since I posted with regularity, but previously was SueD (while I lived in Idaho) and GrannySue (while at Mom's - she had cancer).
I've recently posted a few things, hoping to get folks informed and involved, but due to lots of readings and no responses, figured no one knows who I am and everyone might think I just came here to spam the board.... NOT SO!!! Used to do this all the time, lol.
A LOT has changed in my life, but my big mouth and bad attitude about government have remained the same - if not gotten worse...
Just wanted to let you all know I'm not some fly-by-nighter here to cause trouble - I can do enough of that with everyone knowing who I am, lol....
I don't get to my yahoo account every day, and since comcast (my isp) blocks everything from this site for some reason, I just come here to check on any messages etc etc and posts, but not every day - probably more like a couple times a week, so please bear with my tardiness...
Welcome back, granny. I've forgotten you, but that's ok. Just get on with a few posts so i can check them out again to see if you really are a problem child like me.
I am sorry to hear your mom has cancer. It has killed most memebers of my family forever, and i have had it twice, once 35 years ago, and again last year.
I now have a pair of dolly partens that i keep in the drawer most of the time. They are much too heavy. Poor Dolly.
I dont remember if you said your mom was ok now, or not. I hope all is well with her, in any event.
I think it is a very real, and very clear, and very present danger to this country. It surely has killed and maimed many more than any foreign terrorist has ever done.
--and this is MY enemy, and killing 35,000 iraqis in one year, and maiming as many more, has not helped those poor people , and cost us, too, in so many ways.
Furthermore, if we think we had "terrorists" when this war was started, we surely have millions more who hate our guts for what we are doing.
It's like trying to "save" people in consentration camps by bombing the hell out of them. That's what we are doing.
Lance Armstrong and Dr. Guptka were on tv last week to talk about starting some kind of awarness group because so many thousands could be saved with info and early detection.
Apparently, there are places where there are more cancer deaths than any other, and also more among the very poor who do not get early detection because they are not aware of it or don't have the money.
--and the government has cut funds to help with the early detection programs that would save so many lives.
I think our government is on a death trip, and taking a lot of innocent people all around the world with it.
Also, cancer statistics went down a lot when they stopped giving estrogen to women during menapause.
I'm really interested in the environmental factors that help to increase cancer, and those things we can do to bring cancer and the cancer deaths down.
For instance, if we get 15-20 minutes a day in the sun for the 1000 I.U.s that we need, it is a terrific help against this dread disease.
--and 200 micrograms of selenium a day, or two brazil nuts. Think of that.
These are statistics by experts in the field taking other approches that are as natural as possible, and i like that, as well as what the docs recommend. in part.
--and there are so many other things that we can do.
I'm into organic meat from animals that are not fed estrogen and other chemicals that are dangerous for us to eat, as well as soil that is not be filled with chemical fertilizers, and pesticides, etc.
I am really enjoying the study. Oh, yes, a lot of phytonutritients. That is, bright colored fruits and veggies. Eating two different colors at a time, like broccalli and tomatoes at one meal gives you a double whammie.
I hate brocalli, but it's ok in soup, or just a little in salads, or ground up and put into pasta meals. --but it is so good for us, and such a fighter against cancer that i eat it more than i'd like to.
I'm just writing this now because i wrote stuff like this before the recent changes on the forum and the health stuff was all wiped out, then, and other stuff that i kept going back to for info was deleted.
--and i have more access to the internet today. No one is home that uses it. love, alma

Alma - its good to see you again!
No... Mom actually died Thanksgiving Day of 04... stayed on to help Dad get back on his feet, and wait for little Julie to be born. Mom was the first blood-relative to go from cancer - we usually have heart attacks and strokes in my family (over emotional and pig headed, lol!)
I had it once before as well, and will probably get again if I don't stop the smoking like a chimney (it does keep others around me from meeting the barrel of a gun, though - the smoking, I mean!).
You'll remember me once I get to posting more often, lol - just have gotten more entrenched in the Libertarian train of thought than I was before!
I agree about the terrorists... The ones in Washington scare me more than the ones overseas and hiding out here, though...
Cancer passed heart disease as the primary killer here last year, but the rates have been dropping for 2 years... I'll tell you - if it requires a mammogram to detect breast cancer, I'll die of the disease before I ever get another one at my primary dr..... had one done at Mayo - that I didn't mind so much, and didn't have pain for a week afterward.
"--and the government has cut funds to help with the early detection programs that would save so many lives."
They have to spend it on NAIS - because so many of us have stopped it at the state level, lol.... IL ain't there yet, but I'm working on it (Bills in WA, TN, TX, MO, and others, and VT has passed theirs and signed into law!!)

Have you ever been to the Weston Price Foundation site or Dr. Joseph Mercola?? You'd really like them!! - cutting soy and veggie oils out of your diet can save a lot of health problems, too...
"I'm into organic meat from animals that are not fed estrogen and other chemicals that are dangerous for us to eat, as well as soil that is not be filled with chemical fertilizers, and pesticides, etc."
I've been looking for local sources for years, and finally now that I'm out of the real burbs, there are a few I can buy from... Also into the raw milk thing now - did you know that in its earliest days, Mayo clinic used raw milk as a part of nearly every medical regimen?

If you get the fresh sprouting kind (calabrese) - it's usually on salad bars, but you can find it at health food places - its really great raw with ranch dressing, lol - I don't like broccoli either, but I eat this stuff like its going out of style! (Looks like super-miniature kale kind of- spiraled instead of individual florets).

All the forums have changed since I was a regular... Countryside removed all their political boards, but I never looked at the new headings - that's how I got into trouble there, lol. And there are so many NEW ones here from when I used to post.... all broken into individual headings now!

Off of aol?? I remember they used to go down everytime you were on for more than about 20 minutes, lol!
