Hate to sound like a dummy, but.............. I don't readily see the advantage.
I watched the video, but can't get the sound to play. Therefor I don't understand the advantage of the saw. Is it that you can move the cradle back without back dragging the blade in the previous cut ? (can't spell kerf, cerf, kurf, I guess)
When the blade is swung out of the way is it still powered, or disengaged from the motor ?
I presume you can make angle cuts as well ?
Please tell me more.

All the best stuff was in the sound! Time to reboot? Or do you normally not get sound.
He said so much stuff .... I tried to write some of it in the video description at youtube, but that is still just a small part of what all he said.

The advantage is, you move the saw over the log, set the saw up, and mill the log in place. They will saw BIG logs...
The way they work is, you lower the blade into the log, pull the saw head along the log to make one cut, then when you get to the end, you swing the blade 90* and make the second cut going back. You get a board ever trip.
They have too many disavantages to be a good "all around sawmill", but for a specific purpose, like making smaller construction lumber, they are fast and make good lumber.
There's quite a few models of them made today, and i've watched most of them run at the sawmill EXPO's i attend...

DM,
I almost posted this in one of the other forums with the idea that most folks don't come by here.
Should I continue to post this sort of thing here? Or should I post it to the other forums?
