... especially if you're featuring a specific person. If you're doing it for someone else and getting paid, a release is a MUST. If someone pays you to take pictures of their wedding or their new product, that is considered a "work-for-hire." As such, THEY own the content. Normally, this isn't a big deal but if you are wanting to advertise or build a portfolio, you'll want to show people pictures you've taken.
Protect your content. Have any clients sign a release that specifies that YOU own the content and that they are licensed to use the content under whatever conditions you specify.
