Howdy!
Howdy from just south of Mountain View, AR.
I've lived here most of my life raised on the same farm my father was raised and on the same mountain my grandmother was raised.
My husband and I are both into self reliance, small living, and gardening, though we don't claim to be anymore than armatures at it. We currently have goats and chickens too. Life keeps us very busy! We are artisans/crafters and have a Leather Shop at the Ozark Folk Center State Park. I'm a second generation leather worker following in my fathers’ foot steps. My husband does the finishing touches and mans the shop at OFC while I work in my shop here at home making stock and filling orders.
Hope to see y'all around!
Amy

Greetings from the south of the state here.
We have a garden this year for the first time in a long time. 4 goats, want to learn to milk them. And DH just bought 2 almost year old cows, with an eye to milk and meat eventually.

& I have been reading BHM long enough for my first year's subscription to expire, so I renewed for 3 more, along with a new sub to Mother Earth News. Any other magazine suggestions?? I have even gotten DH to read BHM, and start talking about some of the articles.

New to the Forum and Farm life, currently rebuilding a dead/dying farm in north central Arkansas - just North of Salem. been buying the mag at walmart for years and just moved up here from Jonesboro to work and learn how to live the better life.
So far: Added a Chicken Coop and 25 Chickens, shot 12 armadillos, and 1 skunk. lots of deer and 1 in the freezer.
over the winter will be getting ready for the spring planting by cutting the cedars out to 1. build a fence to protect the garden and 2. to be able to plant some apple trees and minimize the health problems. also looking to add bees this spring (wife does not know it yet).

I'm in the Conway area. Doing my square foot gardening thing and probably going to be raising rabbits really soon.

White County here. We're working on doing the self-sufficiency thing but it's slow going with finances and the lack of "attendance" to our homestead. Work takes us away for long stretches at a time. Brought in my two youngest sons (22 & 24) to help out.
Garden - Semi-check (SFG atm but need more space)
Chickens - Check
Dogs - Check
Rabbits - Cages built, supplies purchased, just need the rabbits now.
Goats - Not started yet.

Gardening in Arkansas
I also posted this under plants. I am moving to Cabot, AR the first week of June. Can Vegetables tolerate 8 plus hour days in the sun or should I look for a site with less. Also what vegetables can I plant and reasonably expect to get a harvest by the end of the season. I don't expect to get seeds into the ground until the end of June.
Thank you for your Advice,
LoiDreams
