Default The Largest Boatlift in History

The largest boatlift in history occurred on 11 September 2001, when half a million people were evacuated from lower Manhattan in 9 hours by ferry boats and hundreds of commercial boats, commercial operators who put their business interest (and profits) aside, and helped their their fellow man.
The link below will take you to an 11 minute documentary narrated by Tom Hanks.

Everybody's heard of Dunkirk. Wonder why this didn't receive more publicity?

I don't think this got any mention this far West of NYC.

This would make a very good historical documentary.

Bless those who helped.

Human nature is often best seen in time of crisis. NYC residents are often given bad reps but when a major disaster hits they all work together. When that plane landed in the river the main reason no one drowned was the responce from the ferry crews and other private boats that responded and help get those people out of the water
1.Those with the biggest complaints are often the biggest part of problem.
2.Those calling for a fight are often the first to run and hide when the fight starts.
3.Those with a narrow agenda are often so blinded they have lost sight of reality.

We were getting people off the island that day anyway we could. My company had 2 box trucks and a few vans in the city at the time and we loaded em with people.

Was an errie kinda day, bumper to bumper traffic and no one was blowing horns no yelling out the windows, we were all in shock.
