I will probably be down at the liquor store, collecting a few moving boxes since I already have one teenager that promised me I can have all her stuff if the world ends, lol.

mayan astronomers
Keep in mind these guys did not have telescopes or computers, but they managed to figure out that on the winter solstice of this year, the observable planets would be in conjunction (lined up in a row)!!! It seems like a fitting achievement to end a calendar with. Think of the Mayan calendar ending as the beginning of another (we have BC, and BCE before the common era, the Lunar calendar, a jewish calendar, chinese, etc. etc.). We just happen to find the Calendar that Pope Gregory designed to be the most convenient. We could still be using Stonehenge... The Mayan calendar doesn't so much signal the end of the world, as the end of an age (era? epoch?). Who knows where human culture would be today if the Mayans would have been left unmolested? Oh, and Friday is my night out, I'll let Elaine make me a Margarita, and I'll dine on fish tacos. (and I'm not so sure that the world didn't already end 11/6/12...) Cheers!

FYI - Libations:
ShockTop is making an "End of the World" wheat beer. No idea of if it's any good we're saving it... if it's not so good, I have Jamesons.

8 pm is it? That evening...
I'll be home, finally, after a long week of work. And, honestly, probably cranky because it's the Friday Ember day in Advent (= no meat and fasting). Sausages and bacon with Saturday's breakfast eggs sound good....

What could be better for an end of the world party than Irish Snake Bite Prophylactic? I like Bushmills, myself. And as for beer, I've got my version of Anchor Steam about ready to bottle...

Well if the world ends on the 22nd I guess that makes a moot point of my taking the oldest 3 granddaughters to the Spurs game on the 31st. ROFL

I'll be comfortably berthed on the Mother Ship.
Apocalypse Command has asked me to report for boarding no later than the 19th, to allow time for TSA screening. The screening is expected to be tedious, as no TSA personnel have been invited aboard.

Counting the minutes
Well I'll come home from work and hook up a dog team for a training run. And then I, like most Alaskans, will be happy with the knowledge that we will be gaining several minutes of light every day.

Will be dragging my butt out of bed. But due to the time difference, it will be 06:30 AM on the 22nd so all is good.

What did I say back a page or two? I'd be home? Away? Meh.
Seems like one day passes into the next. Maybe I'll go get a pizza or something. That is, if the world is intact and the pizza place is still standing.

Everytime the world has ended in the past, I, for whatever reason, did not have my camera ready... And you know what they say; "If ya don't get pictures, it didn't really happen.."
I bought two new Ni-Cad batts for my camera from eBay, one was DOA and the other would only charge half way, and now it won't charge at all...
I could use my old film camera, but with something like The End of the World happening, you really want to have the pics right away, so you can share 'em on FB and stuff. Having to wait a week or two is just counterproductive.
Well, maybe I'll catch it next time.

Asked the manager in McDonald's yesterday if she thought the world was going to end and she said it better not or she would have wasted the money she spent on the decorations she had just put up. When I asked several people laughed and no one seem to think it's going to end. If I didn't have a doctor's appointment at 11:00am I'd probably be at McD's having breakfast. I'll just go let the lab supervisor play vampire then go to my appointment and come home in the afternoon, not worried in the least.

Yeah, that's cool that those Mayans could figure out so much astronomy so long ago. How could they see all that stuff without telescopes? It's pretty amazing. I agree that the Mayans didn't say it was going to be doomsday on 12/21/12. They said 12/21 would be a time of change, not just the day itself but the time around that day.
I don't know who made up the 'Doomsday' theory about 12/21/12, but it wasn't the Mayans.
Anyway, I'm gonna be at a party on 12/21 and will be celebrating the Winter Solstice. I'm looking forward to the increasing daytime that this will be bringing. It gets dark so early this time of year.

I am going to be doing what I have always done.
Pray for people.
Read.
Love my kids.
And cherish all the memories I was able to make/have or dream of having.
If the end of the world/life,etc is too happen----which I seriously doubt--there's
not a thing I can do about it.
Txanne

Just read on the news this morning that the Chinese have arrested about 200 members of a self-styled Christian cult that is going door to door to promote the end of the world. But, and isn't there always a but, they can save people from it. Also from what the article said these people believe that the power will be off and the sun won't shine for three days. That's their "end of the world" scenario.
