Stuck is right! LOL. We're here til hubby retired from his second career then we're gone. Love the food we've found through the Amish farmers and the hunting is fantastic. Just can't stand some of the laws and the taxes thanks to Gov "Owe-Malley".

We're down SOMD, where are you?

After helping with grands and greats for a little over six years, we escaped the "Fee (not a typo) State" a little over two years ago. Lived in the mountains toward Frostburg a little out of Cumberland. We gardened on terraces I made during brief interludes from blowing and shoveling snow-- feet of it at a time. Got a million sorry stories about that place. Love some of the people, strange as I seemed to be to them, but glad I miss 'em now. My kids are all trapped in a rut due to work near DC. When we escaped "Owe-Malley Land" we opted not to return to our sun dried country of West TX and resettled instead in God's own country of middle TN where we join the locals in saying, "Nobody else will like it here so y'all come... but only for a short visit." Seriously, I pray you're doing better and living freer than many others in your state.

We're looking at TN/KY somewhere when we leave here. Saving our pennies to buy land now and then will start saving pennies to build the home. Making the best of it as we can right now. Will be glad to leave though.

I also reside in " Marylandistan"

oeb,- it sure is a small world. I live in the Frostbug area and you are right about the snow. We had 265 inches a few years back. That is our current record. ( that is 22ft by the way... lol)
I love Western Md. I love the mountains the people and the climate actually. What i don't like is the socialist gov't cramming everything down our throats when we have next to no representation in Annapolis.. There is a big push for Western Md. secede from Marylandistan right now but we all know that will never happen.

I understand and my heart goes out to you. One would have thought that the "crapper tax" or "flusher tax" would have been the last straw and then surely folks would have revolted over the gerrymandering to redistrict Allegany and Garret counties into a block with those around D.C.-- that was just despicable! Oh Lord, I must not get started here.

Born there. Left when I was 17 to go to war (against my better judgement.)
Lived there for a while after the war, went to UMBC and on and on...finally ended up in the Midwest where I am happy and truly FREE.
