seems that this "Texas Muster" thread died about a year ago. Lets see if it can be resurrected.

Not native born, but as they say, got here as soon as I could. Born and raised in Philly, but came to Texas in 64 to go to college (Baylor). Been here ever since with the exception of a couple of years in the army and some extended road trips (hitch-hiking) around the country in the early seventies.

Lived and worked in and around the Austin area (Liberty Hill anyone--Willie had one of his July 4th picnics there), but have left the urban life behind for the wilds of north central Texas not too far from Lake Brownwood and the Thrifty community.

Call my place Hunker Down Ranch cause that's just what I'm doing. A current lady friend says I love my animals more than people, and she's pretty much on target.

Texas, as we all know, is a state of mind--can't ask for anything more.

I've met Willie and Jerry Jeff Walker many years ago--at The Country Store--shared a little JD with them and bologna sandmiches with them---ahhhh those were the days.

Maybe Huntsville after Labor Day?
The big State Park there---took my boys on their first snipe hunting trip there---LOL.

I would need a few weeks of notice so I can take off at work but Huntsville sounds a-ok to me.

That would work for most folks----right now its too hot and its at the height of tourist season.

There's one more park I will check out in Hardin Co.

But if anyone has some ideas---chime in.

Good to see you.

I would love to be there but since I no longer drive that pretty much lets me out. Have fun whenever and wherever you meet.

I'd love that part of the country -- as long as we don't stay too awfully many nights as I start getting claustrophobic with all those trees around.

I've been saving up for a $147,000 motor home just for such events but the last I looked, I only have about $47.28 in the kitty so we'll be tenting.

Did I hear someone say October-ish, when the temps are merely double digit?

Ran---Giggle!!
Hope you get to saving a little faster---thats really roughing it LOL.

Yes--there's quite a few places in that part of the country.
We usually cool down around Hallowen---I think.

Tree phobia? Thats a new one----pines oaks or youpon?

That time of the year the parks are emptier.

I am soon to join the ranks. I find myself transferring to south of Houston.

I look forward to the adventure.
