Default Doxie Rescue ??--Texanne?

I'm wondering about doxie rescue organizations. How does one find someone who does this, locally? We're in SW VA, not too far from eastern NC and TN.

My SIL is in the end stages of bone and colon cancer. She and her husband have two doxies. Daisy was run over by a car and had back surgery about 2 years ago. She can get around well, her legs will collapse sometimes but she jumps right back up and goes on. The main problem is bladder control. She just kind of pees as she runs when she gets excited. She sometimes nips at peoples ankles too. Molly is a real sweetie and they get along really well. I don't know what will happen to them when SIL dies. Her husband has mental and emotional issues. He loves the dogs but sometimes he's been known to ignore them or kick at them when he gets upset. He may be going into assisted living or something when his wife is gone. I hate to see the dogs separated but I think it would be hard to find a home for Daisy. Any thoughts on this?

Maybe start with Dachshund Rescue of North America.
