Default ghost short

bought a new to me 2001 ford Taurus SEL, in pristine condition this car was taken care of. only problem is left turn signal keeps going out, but when I get it to my mechanic it's working again. It's not the bulb, replaced that myself, still works only when it wants to. Checked to see if the negative ground was loose, I have had that happen in another car, all was tight and clean. any ideas?

Intermittent electrical problems are usually a bad ground. You're on the right track.

Maybe it's not the ground connection that's bad, but rather, a crack in the wire. Try running an alternate, temporary ground wire to the light.

It could also be a crack in the hot wire giving intermittent connectivity or a bum switch.

Haven't been able to try Doc's suggestion because the lights been working ever since. You can't fix whats not broken.
