Default Four pheasants in the freezer so far.

Been a good pheasant season for my son and me so far. He's gotten three birds and I got one. Most we've hunted pheasants too. We usually go the first day or two then quit, but this year since my son has his own shotgun, he can't wait to get out there. We've gone out about 5 times already with two more weekends to go. He's becoming quite the wingshot.

The birds are stocked by the game commission so its not what I'd call "wild" pheasant hunting. But, its not like a game farm where you walk in and they put out however many birds you buy ten minutes before you hit the fields. The birds are put out within a three day window per their schedule but yo udon't know exactly when. Gives some sense of "where are they", and how many. Still fun to get out there and see a few.

Sounds like a good time! Glad your Son is liking the hunting, many fond memories for both of you will be had.

How do you like to cook them?

We're up to 5 birds now. I got another one this past Saturday.......Going to be giving a few away for thanksgiving this year.

We just bake like we would a turkey, and inside an oven bag with a can of vegetable soup tossed in to prevent the bird from drying out.
