Default Hello

As a frequent reader of BHM, I figured it was time to join the forum. My retirement dream is to live the simple life, a smaller self-sustainable life, and we have trended in that direction often in spite of our circumstances. I've been active duty military on and off since the 80's (old guy) with a few years living in africa working in humanitarian relief - great way to raise kids! Homeschooled all the way through, and now we're empty nesters - haven't figured that out yet. Love the outdoors, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, quite a bit of firearms knowledge I suppose, amateur knife shaped object maker. We hope to take a year after we retire and hike the AT or PCT, just because.

Right now I teach moral philosophy to military officers, in addition to my regular duties, so I may gravitate to the more existential conversations. I'm really mostly here to learn though, and prepare for our own backwoods home.

Thanks, Chaps

Sounds like you have certainly done some very interesting and unusual things in your life. Having a backwoods home is something I think you will enjoy.
