Default A Northwoods River Wedding

September 26th.

We had our wedding ceremony on our homestead site that we're hacking out of the wilderness.

The property is on the same river as the In-Laws - they are a couple of miles down river.

There were about 24 Family members (blood and inductees), and about 6 from the local community.

This is the structure we built, looking up river. Funny thing is, once we built this structure, we've seen the same type of thing plastered all over the TV channels - literally, all over.

During the ceremony. The BIL went and got ordained so he could marry us. His participation was critical, since the first time we met we almost got in a scrap. But, that's a different story. We are Brothers now.

A pretty serious hug. I will always remember the look in her face during the ceremony.

An uninvited guest, but a welcome one.

We floated down from our property to the in-laws. The BIL and his wife accompanied us. The SIL made the plaque. The Wife suggested we float a string of coors light cans behind the canoe, but I was granted a veto on that.

Waving goodbye to the crowd. This is down river, the property on the right is all ours to those pines.

One of my fav pics

After landing at the In-Laws place. This is my young friend and myself. There is a Golden Retriever in the majority of pics. There were 5 of them running around, and they like their pics taken too.

This is one of the pics that inspired my pole barn jack pine savage comment - this one is for you, Wyo!

Late in the night, much beer and champagne were consumed by all (well, not the kids and dogs)

Finally, what celebration is a celebration without burning a chimney log?

I hope you enjoy sharing our experience, it was a perfect day.

Great pictures. What a cool idea using a canoe to row away in.

Dude and Dudette....Congrats and Best Wishes....

WONDERFUL... WONDERFUL pictures....

The eagle in the tree kind of has a look like "wonder if they have fish?"

Thanks for the tree stand picture... Cake looks good also..
Picture of everyone around the fire is priceless..

Will have to look at all them again later as eyes watering.. Must have stirred up dust from the keyboard..

Thanks for sharing..
Enjoy

Thanks Guys! I did try to sneak a fishing pole in the canoe, but that didn't happen.

However, I did get to go grouse hunting for a couple of hours before the ceremony.

Great pictures, and looks like a great time was had by all.

And your favorite picture is a good one.

Thanks for sharing your pics! Our wedding was also held in the woods - in a pavilion in the middle of our 200k acre state forest land. Nearest house proper was 10 miles away. Had to make an extra donation to get the Constable to make the trip up into the woods for us.

Congrats! Those pictures show that you had all the " right" people at your wedding! They make me wish I could have been there. I haven't seen too many wedding photos that I can say that about...including my own! Congrats on doing it your way!

Best wishes for a long and happy marriage!

We're blessed to have a very close knit Family Unit. Thank you.

Those along with hundreds more photos are prints (from film) from before digital cameras. I really need to scan them. I have pics from when I built my house also on our original homestead.

Winters coming. Sounds like a good activity.

I've been slowly scanning old family pics, and it freshens up memories that have been dusty for a long time. It's a good experience.
