Default Donuts

Here is a little history prior to the question. Our youngest daughter asked me what made biscuits flaky? I had no idea and Googled it. I came across King Arthur's Flour website. While looking I came across donut mix. (We did answer the original biscuit question.) So now the daughter wants to make donuts. Back in the late 70's early 80's when my parents owned an apple orchard we sold donuts but altered the recipe. They were very tasty. Now the daughter wants to make a cake donut (healthier) but instead of buying commercial grade mixes at a higher cost is there a good old fashion cake donut recipe that we can make from scratch? We will be altering the recipe to make it fit our needs. We just need to know how much of the ingredients we need. Thanks in advance. Ciderman

One of the things we did for quick donuts was to use a biscuit mix, or the refrigerated biscuit stuff for even quicker donuts. You can make "raised" donuts with a yeast-raised mixture, the recipe for which you can search the web. The biscuit stuff is quick, though, and you can then shake them in a ziplock bag of cinnamon-sugar to make them even more yummy.
