Default Oil-less compressor update

I repaired my oil-less compressor by replacing the pistons. Repair was fairly simple. I had hoped I would get 4-5 years more out of the compressor. It get light use, but the new pistons ripped themselves apart with less than 20 hrs of use. Not happy.

I was in Harbor Freight and they have a 3HP dual stage compressor head for $150. I figured I have the motor and the tank, to get a 3HP 60 gal compressor for $150 I figured was worth chance.

The weather is warming up so I will get into the garage and get this replaced.

I will let people know how it goes.

Raining here this AM, so I'm bored and checking out old posts:

I'm all for rebuilding old stuff. It's usually cheaper than buying new, but:

Unless you're using your compressor for painting or for assembly line production work, you don't really need a 60 gal capacity. Harbor Freight has a six gal compressor for $130 (often on sale for less). It was more than adequate to run my nail gun as I built my barn & for automotive hand tools. I have a 35y/o 30 gal compressor that runs perfectly well but uses much more energy. I haven't used it since I got this little one.
