Default CO2 converted to Etanol!

This could have a huge impact on carbon units! If we can create fuel out of CO2 there goes the "Global Warming" problem and the energy problem all at the same time.

But when you burn ethanol it produces CO2 Right? So how is this helping?

I suspect that was part of the selling point of using ethanol, that a gallon made less CO2 than a gallon of gas..

It would be interesting to know...
>>How much energy does it take to make a gallon of ethanol out of how much CO2 ?
>>How does this process compare to the amount of CO2 consumed by an acre of corn plants, compared to how many gallons of ethanol that acre of corn will produce.

I'm sure the numbers are out there somewhere..

Like any process.. It will get cheaper as the technology and equipment improve..

I think it is supposed to be CO2 neutral: you take CO2 out of the atmosphere, make ethanol, burn the ethanol back to CO2 and H2O. Since it was invented at Oakridge, perhaps the process is nuclear-powered. I wonder what would happen if these devices were mounted onto industrial stacks with concentrated CO2 coming out maybe powered by excess heat in the stack.
