Default Finally made it to the woods.

Well we finally made our move. It only took about a year to get our place and get out here. We were just out in the country. Our property was just a field with people all around. We are now in our cabin in the woods. Our little cabin is in the Ozark mountains in Mark Twain national forest. We have no kitchen inside or running water other than at the well house but we love it. It's so beautiful and quiet!!! Now the work begins!!

Here's the pond a couple hundred feet from the cabin.

Front yard.

Don't laugh at our mess. We've only been here a week. No one has lived here in 7 years and the owner was fixing it up to sell when he had a stroke and couldn't finish so the inside was gutted and he got the walls up and the electric and plumbing roughed in but that's it. So our kitchen and most every day living is done outside. Most of the materials to finish it are inside. It has a beautiful large stone fireplace and insert inside too.

Sounds like heaven! Keep us posted on the journey as the place takes shape. Wish I was sitting by that pond right now!

Good luck and don't forget to enjoy the ride!

It's hard work but its so beautiful out here! Coffee time in the mornings and unwinding in the evening is amazing. We've had deer walk through the yard several times. We are 4 miles off the road and the driveway isn't much more than a logging trail so it's pretty quiet out here.

That looks like a beautiful place you have there. Is the pond large enough to stock with a few fish? Enjoy your wilderness, there is not much of it left these days!

Beauteous!

And it even looks like you already have a rack set up to hang a carcass for dressing, although it looks like some thoughtless vandal has hung some sort of swing right in the middle of it.

Haha! Well good thing is that there's another one of those carcass racks here and it has missing swings.

It was stocked in the past and still has some small bluegill. It just needs managed which my fishing pole will help with that. I'll probably add some next year to it.
