So I just looked up price of gas and average income in 1985: $1.20/gal & $23,000/yr For 2017, $2.10/gal & $46,000/yr.

Comparatively speaking, gas is a little cheaper today than 30 yrs ago.

BTW- eggs were 80cents a dz in '85 and they've been 40cents a dz at Aldi's here lately. They must be using slave child chicken labor in sweat shops in Malaysia to do that.
Our gas is 1.99-9 and eggs at aldi been 30 cents for more than a month . Amazing

Of course 30 cents in 2017 dollars would have been only 13 cents in 1985 and 1.20 in 1985 dollars is 2.73 in today's dollars.

Tim.. is the that per liter or per gallon ???

Regular Unleaded has been right at 1.94-9 for the past few months. The first of June it jumped to over 2.00, I guess for the fast vacationers. It came back down to 1.87-9 when I fueled up Tuesday, but Friday morning the sign showed 1.84-9, but didn't need any fuel then.

don't recall exactly, last time I got gas it was 20 gallons worth (I filled 4 cans, 5 gallons each), came up to $76, plus $20 in regular gas for the guy who gave me a ride to get the cans filled. I use only premium ethanol free gas to run the generator, chainsaw, and tractor. I get gas roughly 2 times a month, a lot of days I run a gallon of gas through the chainsaw sometimes 2.

Up to $2.14 today, although the TV announcer said it was below $2.00 gal here. Don't see it around here for that price. It's time to gouge all the holiday travelers, you know!
