Default Sentient Extraterrestrials

Scientists say that the Universe is 13.8 billion years old, and the Earth is 4.5 billion years old. Keeping this in mind, isn't it naive that people think that in this exact time period there are sentient extraterrestrials? Let's say for arguments sake that there were sentient aliens, but they existed 1 billion years ago. They came and went without a whisper, and we were none the wiser. Compared to the age of the Universe, the Human species a but a scratch on the surface of time. Let's give the aliens the benefit of the doubt: they existed 1 million years ago, but they went extinct after 500,000 years. I'm not saying that they don't exist, I'm just saying that its entirely possible that they don't exist in this time and space. We could be all alone.

WOW.... That must be the biggest words I've ever seen. Think I sprained my lip trying to pronounce that..

OK........... I suppose anything is possible....

I mean.. If it weren't for that Roswell would have to think of something else for a local industry. Hey.. Long as it works for them... I'm cool with it.

Rats... Now the theme from the old "Twilight Zone" show is going through my head likely for all day...

"There is a fifth dimension beyond which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of a man's fears, and the summit of his knowledge. It is an area which we call The Twilight Zone."

I'm beginning to wonder if there is any "sentient" life on this planet.

Sometimes it doesn't seem so.

A lot of Sentient life forms on this Planet, but subsets with Common Sense and Wisdom are somewhat hit or miss.

I think there has to be sentient life out somewhere in the Universe. There are just too many possibilities, to think otherwise - in my opinion.

Haven't had too many discussions with Christians relating to this, but I would be very interested to hear how the Christian Faith interprets the possibility. Not sure if this is the correct section to discuss that though.

I think it depends on the Christian denomination. As far as I know, the Catholics are fine with extraterrestrial life, but some of the more conservative Protestant denominations have big problems with it. The middle folks just haven't thought about it.

I wonder how the Druids feel about the subject.
