Believe it or not, I grabbed an old Nancy Drew book from the bookshelf here. "The Mystery of the 99 Steps". Nancy never fails to entertain me. I've been reading her books since I was a youngster.

Just finished the latest issue of Self Reliance magazine. It's not BWH, but it's not bad.

So now that gardening season is over here, it's more time for reading. I'm currently reading a series by Mary Daheim about a woman who owns a B & B and the murders that she solves. The one I'm reading now is "Creeps Suzette". I'm not reading them in order but I am enjoying them very much.

What is everyone else reading?

Out of the 2 1/2 tons of books we brought home. I finished a biography of an old guy from the area, not more than 5km from us here in the bush. Guy was an old WW2 veteran, hunter guide, prospector and such. He was called "Yukon Joe". Now, I am part way through a book about the history of black soldiers in the US military.

I grew up in the part of the country where the Union black soldiers from the US civil war were first assigned to man forts in the west during the Indian trouble of that time. The black cavalry and infantry had been moved to the US desert south west long before the Custer battle.

We each have quite a pile of books set aside out of this avalanche of volumes. Will take all winter to get through them.

Yup, jvc, I signed up again. Can't wait for that first issue! Although I know it will be different, I think it'll feel like coming home again!

Default Powerless by James Hunt

I'm reading a Kindle novel that cost $1.99 by James Hunt. It's fiction about a small family apple orchard's recovery after an EMP strike on the US. It's called Powerless. Pretty green writer but the story line is sound. Fast paced and engaging read. I don't usually read fiction but this one is a nice diversion from real world trash headlines.

Not reading anything right now as I'm waiting on my BWH Anthology to show up! I can't wait to catch up on what I've missed all year!

But I might run to the library tomorrow to stock up on books before I get too busy to get there before the holidays.
