Exclamation A distracted child?

Or one that does not seem to hear you well? It could be one of the most misdiagnosed problems....hearing loss. Get their hearing checked. I ought to know as I was born with this problem. There are such varying degrees of hearing loss that it makes overlooked.

Excellent advice!--also consider vision problems. The pitfall is that the kids themselves can't tell you there's anything wrong because that's "normal" for them-- they have nothing to compare their situation to.

Remember that Beethoven was so deaf that he thought he was painting.

Been there, done that....
When my kids were in grade school I went head to head with some "suit" from the school. First one was some SOB that walked through a class room saying, you, you, you to have there English skills checked. Since my kids (Asian) didn't look like me, they got singled out.

The other incident was about the same with a walk through diagnosis of ADD and or other things like that. I had there eyes, ears tested. Had them tested and they were both diagnosed as "stimulus hungry" So that was the start of the version of "gifted, talented" programs at that time.

Kids like this will turn you grey early as they are very hands on intensive to raise. But worth it. Good luck..

Sometimes a distracted child is a bored child. If they have no interest in what someone is saying, they tune them out.

Ask me how I know!

Country mom, this is also true. I was just trying to remind people of this movie st misdiagnosed problem. Since there are such varying degrees of hearing loss, most people just don't realize that this could be the problem.
