Car Accident Victims
On the way home from work yesterday came upon a bad wreck. Being an EMT, I did what I could, but I'm thinking the kids won't make it.
Brother and sister, Ken and Amber, please pray for them and their family, and the poor gal that hit them. She couldn't help it, they pulled out in front of her.
Thanks.

Re: Car Accident Victims
Thanks....
Found out that the girl was pronounced dead at the hospital later that night. Her brother is alright, but I just keep thinking about how he and the rest of family must feel.
I've seen a lot of these things, but for some reason this one is really bothering me. As soon as I saw the car, I knew she wouldn't make it, but I just had to try.

Re: Car Accident Victims
I was an EMT for 7 years and a firefighter for two years. I can empathize with your anguish. So many times people, especially young people, have been killed or crippled by a simple mistake, that 99 times out of a hundred would of just have been a scary incident. I've worked on kids whose bus pulled out in front of a fully-loaded tractor trailer, and on a 2 YOA child whose grandfather left a forgotten, fully loaded pistol under his bed for his own safety in a bad neighborhood.
If being in EMS taught me anything, it is when you are called home, you go - no matter what the circumstances. One fellow got home from Desert Storm, and took his re-signup bonus to the car dealership to buy the convertible sports car he had always wanted. While driving home, on a bright, clear, sunny, windless day, a huge tree came crashing down out of the woods alongside the road and crushed him and his car flat to the pavement. There was literally nothing we could do.
One of the worst things about living as an EMT in a rural area is that the injuries that happen to others around us are personal. So many times we came home from wrecks at 2 and 3 AM, and told our teens which one of their friends we had worked on; who made it, who didn't. It is hard.
I pray for her and her brother but I pray for you as well.

Re: Car Accident Victims
Thanks, Wiley, that means a lot. And you're right - so many times it is just a simple mistake. The girl and her brother were from a small town in the next county, and probably never realized they had to stop at that crossroads.
I'm coping a little better now, but there's still moments....I was seriously considering giving up my license this go-round, since I hardly ever have time to work a shift, but I went ahead and renewed. I'm thinking I won't next time.
But of course with the years of training that kick in, even if I'm not current, I'd probably do again exactly what I did last week.
Thanks for your prayers!
