Question HI

Apologies for jumping in on your thread, but I am looking at moving to Oregon soon, possibly near Eugene. Is there anything that you could share about the state that I should know, or could you offer any tips on that area? I would most certainly appreciate it.

Default Eastern Oregon

I am originally from Portland, lived 5 years in Washington but moved back to Oregon due to lower taxes and better rights for gun owners.

We moved into an area that is very new to us but we LOVE it.
It is an adventure for sure....sometimes we feel like we are on that show Frontier House, lol.

We never realized how much we disliked the city until we got out of it. Living on less/needing less material possessions is actually a blessing. Not having to deal with the overflowing rich bitch Paris Hilton types has been so refreshing.

Hey there! I'm a native Oregonian (got webbed feet to prove it!). We're in SW Oregon, and love it.

Default Hi from north central Oregon

Gardener/prepper/wanna-be homesteaders in north central Oregon (dryside of the Cascade Mountains, along the Columbia River). It's rural and windy where we live. No stop lights in our whole county. Population is declining, the schools and churches are small, and its all good to me.

Default Deported Oregonian

I was born and raised there. Born in Eugene and graduated from LaGrande. I miss the NW but I am in Missouri now and I love it.

Battleground is about 20 minutes north of Vancouver - still a suburb though, not getting the farm quite yet, but working toward it

countryJo, it's a short sale and now we're hung up - haven't heard from the seller's bank in a month, so we're getting frustrated - hopefully though the move should happen before Thanksgiving

-Well, it is USUALLY starting to get wet this time of year. However, we are in the midst of a drought of our very own.
-Let's see-- you must choose to be either a Beaver or a Duck.
-Must like rain -- lots of it.
-People here are friendly and helpful in all respects. That was the hardest thing for me to get used to after moving here from Phoenix,AZ.
-A handshake still means something here.

Default Oregon

Just snooping and discovered this thread.
When I first moved to the Eugene area it was a pretty nice quiet and somewhat conservative area, then the Californians moved in and now Eugene is a very liberal (honor diversity) high crime unfriendly area. I live in Junction City area and the damn liberals are moving out here too.
If I could I would move to Eastern Oregon.
Oregon is politically divided with western Oregon (Portland and Eugene) as very liberal and Eastern Oregon pretty much conservative except for the Bend area. Again the Californians have moved in and brought their problems with them. But the rest of eastern Oregon is conservative. Unfortunetly the population if in Portland and Eugene so the democratic liberals rule the state in all elections.
