Default Kroger - great deal on canning jars

I live in southern illinois so I am not sure if this deal is going on at all Kroger stores, but they had 50% off most canning supplies today when I was in. I got half pint jars for $4.10, 12 oz quilted jelly jars for $5.20, pint jars for $4.34, 4oz jelly jars for $4.05, 8 oz jelly jars for $4.00 and wide mouth quart jars for $6.10. They were out of the wide mouth pint, so I didn't get those. They also had regular lids and pectin 1/2 off, but I didn't need any. Just wanted to let everyone know.

that is the best deal I have seen in years. Lowes had canning jars in the center isle at an outrageous price.

That is a GREAT deal on new jars!! I got Golden Harvest quart jars at Wal-mart a couple weeks ago for $6.50, they had run out of Ball and had these for a deal.
I found 13 dozen used Ball quart jars on Craigslist for $3.00dz, I am going to pick them up tomorrow. All are the newer style, and some weren't even used, all are sparkling clean.

Hi, if you don't mind me asking... how far in southern Illinois do you live? I live on the Ohio river.

Tomorrow is grocery day, so I will have to remember to go down the canning isle at my Kroger. Thanks for the heads-up.

Not sure if yall consider this a good deal, but I just got back from Tractor Supply and their Ball canning jars have been marked down, regular qts, regular pts and large mouth pts all $6.99. I bought qts and WM pts, where I live thats a pretty good deal, however, I will not use the lids, I have had terrible luck with the Ball canning lids this year.

That is very odd, I haven't had 1 failure with the Ball lids this year, and only 1 failure last year, which was my fault not Balls.

I can almost assure you that the problem was not with the Ball canning lids.

I have never had a problem with the ball lids either, until the "brushed sliver finish" ones. So,,,, I started using the golden harvest lids and had no problems from then on. Believe it or not.

All of my Ball lids sealed perfectly this year, but i found some old Kerr lids my mom had, and a couple of them didn't seal.

Very strange, the silver Ball lids I really like, I was hesitant about the Golden Harvest lids I had to use since I had to buy some of their quart jars when I was doing peaches as our local store was out of Ball. No problem with them either. I can't imagine what is wrong with yours, I have had nothing but good luck with them.

Well looks like this sale must have been a local thing. No half off at my local Kroger, but my aunt did find me 3 cases of ball jars at a estate sale for $6, so I still got to add to the collection this week.

Will be checking again this week then since it looks like the sales are still popping up.
