Well all the walls are in ...now drywall nailers in the ceiling amd start wiring and plumbing...got the ceramic/propane wall heater and water heater, toilet tub and some odds and ends. The weather I hope will hold out for just a few more weeks and I hope water, heat and electric will all be self contained and we can move in if need be ...early...way early but thats life.

More to come...........

It is really coming along. Looks like you may have to find a Christmas tree to put in there. It would be so great for you to be able to spend your first Christmas in your new home. Keep us posted as you move along.

Keep up the good work

Very nice. There is a lot of satisfaction in doing stuff yourself.

Mr Cuppajoe,
You are right!! "Taping & Bedding" is not a job for the inexperienced. It is an art-form. I usually try to stay humble, but I have to admit that this is one of my talents that I am actually very good at. I used to just cringe when Id walk onto a worksite, where some jackleg had messed up the tape/bed job. There's hardly any coming back from it, once that damage has been done. You cant learn it from a book, or by following directions. Tape and Bed demands years and years of experience. And that's a fact.

Mr Joe,
Well... good on you!! That's a good idea, and probably exactly what I would do. Cover Those Sins!! Hah Hah !! There's more than one way to skin a cat, and more than one way to texture a wall. So good on you.
Keep up the good work. Take pride on anything done, with good effort.
There's no such thing as a perfect job. Just do your best; and take pride in knowing... it was your best effort. Know what I mean? Good on you.

El Tejano Imperfecto

ps...just DO NOT consider "popcorn" on the ceiling!!!!

Its been a long time since I had the time to really post. Pictures will follow soon........

So....got alot done in the last 6 months. We can only do alittle at a time due to $$$ no big deal. We now are out of the r/v and thats good. The place is shaping up well. Still need 2/3 vinylfloor in yet and kitchen cabnets along with the 3x wall pipe for old woody the wood stove. That will/should all be finished by Oct if all remains calm. Then a good set of steps and we should be able to move ALL our furniture from storage and be done with that aspect......then we will be as ready for winter as we can be! I basically did the entire home by myself with little help from anyone as I do not like to ask for help as is one of my character defects....but a good friend and neighbor did help to get us water and elect in the place.....
Did some planting of herbs but construction took most of my time so that we will address really strong next year. Got storage for dry goods nailed down and a system in place to rotate and a place to purchase bulk items for winter. We have been blessed with good health and good weather .... along with great neighbors and great friends......

Was going to hunt the deer but will wait till we really need to...we have them everywhere at all times of the day. Squirrel and rabbit, dove and turkey are on site as well.

The garden will be the big issue as the rocks here and lack of soil will force us to do raised beds but we dont need much and I am sure the man upstairs will help guide as he always has.................

I love your claim of character defect:
Aint nothing like a self-made man and
one with such a can-do spirit--that
kind of man built this country and we
are runing out of your kind.

Looking good on you--My best to you
and family and with your piece of Heaven.
