Grand Master Pontificator or Gasbag??
If you are just a normal person here, and not a "moderator"...
How do you "politely" ask someone here, to Shut Up?
Some people here are "Grand Master Pontificators" because they actually do have something worthwhile, to say. I appreciate that.
But... Some people here are "Grand Master Gasbags" because they just LOVE the sound of their own voice!!??...(and nothing better to do with their time!!??)
And no matter what is going on, you can always count on them, to show up with mindless opinions and worthless contributions? (it gets so aggrevating!!) It must be so easy "to become a Grand Master Jibber Jabber, to accumulate over 2000 comments, when you are doing nothing more than just talking out of your right ear!!??
I myself, I know, I am guilty of raving and ranting, on occasion. But at least I feel bad about it the next day; and I often go back and try to edit myself. I really do try to keep my comments to a minumim, unless I have something important to say. That's a fact.
But "some" people seem to just go on and on and on with mindless "jibber jabber"... with no end... with no sense of awareness??
Who am I to judge?? Trust me... there are some Grand Master Gasbags who not only get on MY last dang nerves... they get on EVERYBODYS last dang nerves!! It's not just me!! That's a fact !!
My Dear Ol Dad, in his final days, before he finally left this "shitty world", he suffered from Dementia. His condition was diagnosed, his Condition became borderline Pathological... he even talked in his sleep!!... on and on and on and on...!!!??? Would..Not..Shut..Up..??
And everyone around him had to suffer, from his mindless endless jibber jabber!! And if you would not listen to him, as he went on and on, he would take his cane, and stick it into your face!!!...to MAKE you listen!!
My Dear Ol Dad... he definately was "A Grand Master Gasbag". And that is not... it is NOT a good thing.

Use the ignore feature or simply ignore whomever you consider to be a gas bag.
Personally, I try stay within the "mountain climbing" analogy I was taught years ago: Anything one writes should be treated as a mountain climb. Each word written is extra weight tossed into the climber's back pack. Upon reaching the summit, will the reader say the weight was worth it or will they curse me for loading on more weight than the summit view was worth? (not that I'm any good at doing that but I do try. )

Mr Hilton,
OK... I have heard this before; and I have no problem with admitting to my personal stupidities; but this "Ignore" feature???...that you speak of??
I have searched this blogsite thing, over and over again... I do not find this "Ignore" button, as much as I wish I could have. I thought it was a joke, the first time I heard about it? Maybe it is??
If I could... I would... I will, use an "Ignore Button". Does it really exist? Or are you just messing with me?

Ironclad,
Sorry you seem to be having a bad day. I totally agree with you and as far as an ignore button I don't think there is one because I haven't found one either but I think one needs to be added.
Hang in there and I hope you feel better.

Ironclad & Txplowgirl,
Go to (Member CP) in the dark green box at the top of the page. Click on it. On that page you will see your control panel, go down to settings & options & under it you will find (edit engore list) click on it. This page will let you put the name in the box then click ok.
I have never used this so I don't know how it really works but it's worth a try.
Hope this helps some.
I too am sorry you are having problems.

Ironclad ole buddy---we gotta listen to you---you gotta listen to us(me)
You want only (certain) people to be heard others to be silenced--now what the hell
is wrong with you---YOU most of all get a kick out of a good joist---loosen up and ignore
me--
Why is your being able o post unhindered ok---but others that You might not like/or consider verbouse should be silenced?
Get a grip and loosen up---cause ya aint gonna shut me up---you dont have that kind of
Power---specially over me.
ADD:I joined in 2004---heading says 2006--had a puter glitch that did that and I was off for about 4 yrs--
geez I love to talk to these people--retired now--no job--no hubby--no garden or wood to split--so I come to read
and give a little input.
Cheers
Respectfully
Txanne

A couple of weeks back my son & I were in town...there was a kid behind us that was loud & obnoxious...I asked my adult son if he'd happened to bring the remote control for the tv with with him. Son was very perplexed..."why?"...told him I needed it to hit the "MUTE" button for that kid. Don't think the kid's parents were too impressed...but everyone around the kid wasn't too impressed with their lack of parenting either.
So if the ignore button on Backwoods Home works...I wonder if Oliver could rig something up for real life situations?

From the forum FAQ: As a last resort, you can choose to put them on you Ignore list. To do that, click on "Member CP" in the menu bar, then on "Edit Ignore List" under "Settings and Options."

This feels SO GOOD !!! It feels like Ive just had a cancerous growth removed from my buttox!! There are over 7 Billion people in the world; so why let One Single person bother you??
This feels wonderful

I wonder at times when considering the 'ignore button'
is it not the same as the school child who if the game
isnt played his/her way will just scoop up the bat and
ball and go home.
Are egos such that its simply 'my way or the highway'?
Arent egos the same as anal orifices--
everybody has one?
Opinions are great but when they are your rule then
is it not true that we often become our own worst enemy?
That is what makes a forum great--
the collection of opposing thoughts.
How we address them is the make or break point.
There are a couple on here that had no clue as to the
real Johnny yet due to political differings--they dislike me.
This is all well and good but ignore--not in my vocab......

Great points! Yep, I'm a going home and I'm a taking my marbles with me. I taught school for thirty years, seen that happen time and again. The Good Book says" no one lives or dies to himself. "
It takes all kinds of people to make the world go around and it's a good thing we're not all alike or we'd really drive ourselves nuts as I've noticed what generally disturbs me in other folks is when they're to much like myself.

Nothing wrong with healthy debate; nothing wrong with light-hearted feuding...it can be interesting and even entertaining as long as nobody takes themselves too seriously. But then it always happens...someone gets their personal feelings hurt and things get nasty and hateful and personal... oh dear, oh my
***I have decided to Edit my post here!! I personally am going to make any effort that I can, not to contribute to the out of control Fussing and Fighting going on here on this blogsite thing. It is just getting too nasty.
And yea, you are right... Im just as guilty as the next person. I know. Dont worry, Ive already had a long talk with myself !!

You must have gotten hold of a truely worthless woman.
Try to make better choices---dont blame all of us women
for your bad taste--poor choices.
You are angery at the world and women will take the stinking end of
the stick---
I dont dont wherther laugh or cry for you.
There are people here with 1000's of post-I am sure they didnt
mean to offend YOU by posting so much.
Gotta get outside and finish mowing--
Have a good day--if you will let yourself.
Respectfully
