Default A knife for all seasons

here it is...quite possibly the most useful knife design ever.

So....that begs the question:

How does one use such a blade? Assuming form follows function, why is it shaped that way?

"While most famed from use in the military, the kukri is most commonly used as a multipurpose tool, and is a very common agricultural and household implement in Nepal. Its use has varied from building, clearing, chopping firewood, and digging to cutting meat and vegetables, skinning animals, and opening tins."

Most production kukri today are too thick to be used for cutting veggies and meat. Traditionaly made villager kukris are however are not. The other knife is the karda which resembles the western chefs' knife. Most kukri come with a smaller knife called a karda as well, they are about small pocket knife sized, and are there for smaller tasks. In addition there is also a tool called the chakmak, which is a blade steel/burnisher and fire steel. All of these are carried in one sheath/scabbard.

As to the shape of the blade it is designed to provide impetus to the impact of the 'sweet spot' in greater proportion than the size of the knife would reveal. Mine is about 19" OAL.
