Default Hi

1st off I'm Chesapeake fisherman I live in Norfolk Va now and as the name hint's I love to kayak and fish the bay and surrounding areas. Been here about a year, transplanted from upstate NY (fled taxes and regulations)

I'm retired and me wife (better half) still a working RN down here. It pays to marry and educated woman.

Trying to adjust to city life and still maintain my self sufficient life style ( actually doing okay with that.) Nice garden and just finishing my standby generator project. My biggest area of concern is in the security front due to the increased population of questionable characters. But the immediate area seems quite for now.

Projects on tap greenhouse and bigger back deck.

Anyway glad to be here and hope to learn and to contribute some.

Hello and welcome aboard from the Pacific Northwest,
Like you I live in a city, so perhaps we can bounce some security ideas off each other.

Hi! I'm down the road from you in the Outer Banks. It's a 90 minute drive - but wait one more month before you venture our way... tourist season has been crazy-busy this year and while we noticed this weekend it has started to slack off, it'll be a few more weeks yet before we all have room to breathe (and sit & talk) again. Traffic is so bad, we simply do not go out from Friday afternoon till Monday, in season -- and sometimes the backups go all the way to the toll booth on 168. It's glorious here - 9 months of the year! LOL...

After watching the local news (from Norfolk) for the couple of years we've been here, I'd have to say you're right about the security situation. It's pretty scary - even after years of living near I-81 and watching DC news.

Occasionally, some of those lawless nimwits will come south -- and then they discover that the laws in NC aren't so favorable to the criminally minded.

Default outer banks

Ah Mr White Hair I have to agree with "It's glorious here - 9 months of the year! LOL..." As long as you don't get run over by a hurricane. I hesitate to call anyone an idiot

Been down that way some Spent a great week slipped up at Teaches Lair a few years ago hooked a big blue marlin but it broke off, still the image of the leaps is burned into me feeble brain.

I am planning a trip to the Alligator river in the fall to take some photo's (a hobby of mine)

Ah... now that's a pretty wild area! A bit too soggy for my taste back in those woods and the undergrowth is too thick for my taste in exploration. Wear your snake boots!
