Default Quote feature broken.

Oliver,

The Quote feature is intermittently acting as only a Reply button.

Selecting Quote does not feature anything from the post that I want to quote from, only a blank reply box.

thanks, Paul

[in-ter-mit-nt]
adjective 1. stopping or ceasing for a time; alternately ceasing and beginning again: an intermittent pain.

2. alternately functioning and not functioning or alternately functioning properly and improperly.

Paul,

I can't reproduce the problem. I tried several dozen times in various threads using Firefox, Chrome, and IE, and it worked as it should each time.

Please post a couple of links for posts for which it does not work for you. Perhaps there's something peculiar about the posts.

Or it could be a browser setting, though I can't imagine what.

I will link you to the post with date and time, should it continue happening.

Has been happening most for me in "Firearms" and "Self reliance". However, this can be because I quote more often there.

I just went through a few threads in Firearms, hitting quote for each post, again with no errors.

I used Firefox 25.0.1.

If you're still running 25.0, try upgrading.

It may be a Firefox issue related to some setting or other.

Is anyone having the same problem with Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Safari?

So I have upgraded to 25.0.1. I will post here if the problem reoccurs.

I'm on a MacBook and use Safari, everything has always worked for me, no glitches.

Happened again. Self reliance board. Wanted to quote JEBrown to thank him.

Reply box opens and remains blank.

I checked on the vBulletin site and did not find anything that indicated any problem with the code.

I have to believe this is something unique to individual machines or some weird, transient server issue.

If you go back a page and then click on the link again, is the space still blank?

What if you exit the board, then go back, enter the thread, and try the quote again.

Also, does it happen with all the posts in the thread or just one?

Before it was with my laptop running Vista SP3 and Firefox 25.0.

This last time it was on my new desktop machine running Win 7 64 bit and Firefox 26.0.

Two different machines and two different OS.

I will try the others but, like I said it is intermittent. Sometimes "Quote" works, other times the "Reply" box is empty.
