It today political climate, this book written in 1966 rings a strong bell. I recommend everyone read it.

I heartily support this recommendation.

Heinlein is an excellent author in general, but the ideas behind this book in particular ring very true today.

A bit of trivia: the technology behind water beds was never patented because it was already in the public domain, thanks to Heinlin's books! He said he was proud of that, as water beds help to prevent bedsores and this kept the price down to invalids.

He had a lot of health problems, and he realized early on that it would be helpful so he stuck it in his books as part of the future's technology.
