Default Pill Pockets recipe

Pill pockets recipe I found! Our beagle has a sinus infection right now and has to take antibiotics, prednisone, and benedryl. That's a LOT of pill pockets. Figured there has to be a recipe online for them and I found this one and I'm getting the meds in her just fine. This is a lot cheaper and easier.

OH My Goodness......

A beagle with a nose problem has got to be the worst thing in the world...
I've had beagles, and they are a life support system for there nose....

Mine always fell for the pill in the peanut butter smeared to the roof of his mouth.... Messy at times, but effective.....

Thanks for the recipe...

Good luck...

I would save last week's loaf of bread - the last few slices - tear off a ccorner - put the pills on; smear the pnut butter... fold in half. My old boy, would smell the pnut butter even sound asleep, wake up, and take his pills this way.

Recently there was a Americas Funniest Videos clip that showed a person holding a dog treat in front of a sleeping dogs nose.... I've done that with my old dog.... It was funny.......

Enjoy

Clee -
I was surprised at the milk in the recipe. Actually, it's something like the KID recipe for homemade candy bars I used to make when I babysat, only that was a mixture of peanut butter and honey, no flour, but powdered milk to take away the stickiness. I bet you could use dry milk and peanut butter and forget the milk. Of course, the ones for kids had dried fruit and were rolled in wheat germ to give some hope of added nutrition, but for your pup - just enough dried milk to firm it up should work also!

What CarolAnn said sounds kinda/sorta like some of the recipe for home made Tootsie Rolls...

I have that recipe stored somewhere.... It will take some time to find it...

Good luck

Whatever happened to putting the pill in a little piece of a wiener. Works every time.

Well, 1. I now only buy Nathan's hotdogs and I don't share those with the pups! LOL And 2. when we bought cheaper hot dogs with previous dogs they were just too good at eating the hot dog and spitting out the pill! So I gave up on that trick a long time ago.

Never met a dog that didn't like peanut butter and this isn't as messy as smearing peanut butter on pills and trying to make sure they get the pill and don't push it out of the mouth as they smack the roof of their mouth trying to get the peanut butter off it. Especially when we first started this whole mess with Angel and she was taking 2 prednisone, 3 antibiotic pills and benedryl 2-3 times a day. Now I'm down to 3 antibiotics a day and prednisone every other day. This "puppy crack" was just much easier and cheaper than even hot dogs.
