Thanks for the web site. Sorry didn't get back sooner, but work P/T at Wally World and I get some hours all over the spectrum.

So do you think this thing will actually work, or is it just a piece of showy stuff?

I highly doubt it will work as well as they claim. and when they compare costs, they seem to be comparing an entire walk in cooler to an air conditioner and their product, without figuring the cost of insulated the room and door

If it was really such a great idea, commercial coolers would have been using similar systems years ago

Browse the site a bit more. They say less than 0.5% return their coolbots and that is mostly because they didn't read the "Who should not buy a CoolBot" page. I think it's a good sign that they're willing to discuss what won't work, and who it won't work for.

But...how many homesteaders need a (walk-in) fridge that big? (You can't freeze food in it.)

It works!!!!!!!!!!!! We have one and built a walk-in cooler. We use it to hang meats to age, and as our root cellar. We use it to chill produce for farmers markets. It does need a well insulated room. It is cheaper than several refrigerators to cool the same amount.

I was asking what any of you knew about it. I did not mention that I have a friend who has one on his farm. He uses it to keep all sorts of things cool until he needs them, including drinks of varying or no alcoholic content. Which we enjoy when I get there in the late afternoon. Then we, he his wife and I, can sit in the barn and talk about whatever for the daily conversation, and I learn all sorts of things to try on my "Little Bit of Heaven".
