Default Righty Tighty.

An old man was walking along a narrow causeway one day, with swamp on either side. Though it was narrow, it was high and dry on top. He looked over into the mire to see a man waist deep in the water, his wrists shackled together across a steel cable that ran overhead, like a crude, sagging zip line. When he looked closer he saw that the man had a wrench and was frantically trying to tighten the bolts holding the shackle to his wrist. It was the type of shackle used with chains to hold cargo. Though the man in the swamp looked like he had those shackles as tight as he needed, the man on the road was curious.
"What are you up to?" he asked.

"Help me loose of these shackles!" called out out the man in the swamp.

"Turn the wrench other other way" called out the man on the road.

"YOU PRUDE! YOU BACKWARD HICK! you men on the road are all idiots! I came out here to get freedom from your road and your tired old ways, and you still try to tell me what to do!"

So the old man went on.

You can lead a thirsty horse to water, but you can't make them drink....

You can't fix stupid, even with duct tape....
