Default Have you tried Orchard Road dome lids?

http://www.fillmorecontainer.com/Orc...P6176.aspx?c=0

Above is a link to a place that sells them and the price is great for wide mouth lids. The cheapest place I can get wide mouth lids around here is Walmart for $3.99/dz.

Has anyone tried this brand?

Thanks!

Hmm, well I guess no one on here has tried them. Non one at another forum I belong to either. I guess I'll just order some and try them out.

Those are the ones I've used too. I can't find Golden Harvest wide mouth lids.

Just now seeing this thread.

Yes, I've used them. After frieght charges I get them for about $1.50 a pack when I order a box (24) from Azure Standard.

They work just as well as the others. I canned 63 jars of hamburger a few weeks ago and only had two that didnt seal. Was it the jars, the lids, operator error? I dont know but no matter which brand I use theres always one or two jars.

I write the contents on the lid. So in that respect I prefer Orchard Road for the writing space on the lid.

ETA: Oops, the above price is for regular lids. The wide mouths are $1.75 a pack in a box of 18 packs.

Just saw this thread and glad I did. I see Filmore isn't far from me down in Lancaster. I pulled up Orchard Roads website and see they are out of IL. I sent them an email as I'm curious as to whether they make their products in the US. I'll let you all what I find out, assuming they respond.

The box says "Made in China".

Bummer, I never even looked until just now.

Lehman's sells them in bulk. You can get several hundred is a sleeve at a fairly good price. They offer wide mouth and regular. We've bought there several times and the Mrs hasn't had any problems with them. Hope this helps.

I don't know if I got ahold of a bad batch of OR lids or if they changed them. Either way I pickled 18 pints of radishes and 7 quarts of beans. All failed. Not a one of the pints sealed and the lids buckled on the beans.

Revisiting this thread because I was looking at the lids again and thinking of ordering. I never did order this spring!

That's too bad to have them fail after all that hard work! I've had lids buckle when we tightened them too tight, other brands. I may order a few to see how they do.

Wow, that's a lot of lids to fail at once - too bad Mesquite Bean!

I've never seen that brand of lid in Canada. What is the attraction to it - the price? Or that they're BPA free?

Price! I'm thinking they are not BPA free because they don't say that they are. They say the inner coating can be clear or white. I think if they were BPA free they would specify that.

In the link you posted in the first post, it says "Orchard Road Lids are BPA, BPS, Phthalate and Azodicarbonamide free."

Lol. Thanks! I didn't order because of not knowing but evidently, I did know at one time!
I'll check that out.
