Quest For Fire
Thirty-five years ago the movie Quest for Fire came out-- it was a treatment of the sapiens vs neandertals thing. It was scientifically very accurate, having Desmond Morris, anthropologist/animal behavior expert as its consultant. In the story, the sapiens manage to capture fire, but had no way to start one and had a "Keeper of the Flame" whose sacred duty was to keep their fire going at all costs.
So how are you all preparing to keep the flame going in an EOTWAWKI scenario? Unless you plan on carting around a 55 gal drum of butane while the Zombies are chasing you, your Zippo will soon become useless, and those crappy @#$% Chinese matches you've been saving are unreliable at best when conditions are perfect, let alone in a damp, muddy jungle as rain water drips down your hidden spider hole.
Any tips?

Blast from the past! Saw that in the theater during initial release. I keep an assortment of the magnesium and hacksaw blade fire starters that they sell at gun shows. Lots and lots of strikes out of each...all you have to add is dry tinder.

I have some disposable lighters that I replace as needed and a few boxes of matches, I also know how to use a flint and steel (both processed magnesium striker and old fasion), I have also made fires with a bow drill before so no real concern for me

Batteries and steel wool can start fires.
If you have flammable liquids, even static electricity can provide the needed spark for ignition.
Just be sure you think about how to do it without blowing yourself up
Magnifying glasses and Fresnel lenses can work on sunny days.

I will be dead long before all my fire starting stuff is depleted.

How long does it take for your blisters to heal after using that? Are virgin ears to be sequestered from your presence while you're at it?
I keep lint liberated from the clothes drier trap in my sturdy, waterproof KoolAide canister for use as tinder with matches or striker.

Yea, I guess this is one time you don't want to learn from your mistakes.

bow drill is different from a hand drill, hand drill uses hands to make downward pressure, simpler construction but harder to master, a bow drill uses a simple bow with the string wrapped around the stick and run back and forth like a hand saw motion making a lot faster, and a lubed rock or something on top to hold for downward pressure. i suppose an auger brace could be used to hold a wooden peg to accomplish the same function (the top handle works the same but the spin handle functins as the bow, actually the bow drill set was once used with stone bits for drilling and can also be used to hold modern metal bits to drill if you are left with no other methods). not that hand to come up with a working system if you know how to use one and know the basic mechanical systems that make it work

Summary:
Potassium permagnate + sugar + friction = fire
and using a water filled baggie as a lens to heat tinder.
Pretty cool.

Hang out with a smoker....they will always find a way to light their smoke.
Bic's....Bic's... Bic's. ....Bic's, ....Bic's.....Sprinkle Bic's in every jacket, coat, vest, vehicle drawer, tool box, BOB bag, GHB, INCH Bag, PSK, EDC bag......always everywhere except that lawn...they make a good fireball when mowed.
4 for a buck at the dollar store
Run out of fuel.....still has a built in ferro rod and steel for sparking a tinder ball.
Dryer lint spells like burn dog hair...
