Yes, we did need the rain. But with torrential rain, we also had our phones exploding with tornado warnings while we watched nasty black\/green clouds rolling up very quickly. No, we didn’t go to the basement. However, we sure were keeping an eye on the sky in all directions! The trees were whipping ferociously while rain poured off our roof as if several fire hoses were deploying water up there. Our solar panels were swinging and rocking in the heavy gusts. All the while, I was praying we wouldn’t get the golf ball sized hail some were seeing further west of us.<\/p>\n

This is the storm, heading our way.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Fortunately, the storm passed and we heard of smaller tornadoes touching the ground north and south of us. Power was out in both Cook, our closest small town, and Virginia, 25 miles to the southeast. Of course, with us being off grid, our power wasn’t out. But we lost internet connection and my phone quit “except for emergency calls” for quite a while.<\/p>\n

Well, it looks like we’ll be adopting our new dog-child soon. We’re due to get her on July 11th. MAD Rescue volunteers from Ohio to Wisconsin will be taking turns driving her northwest from Ohio to the Wisconsin Dells, where we’re going to meet Glitch. She’s a year-old Dutch Shepherd who was rescued in Texas, after being dumped on the streets. Her foster “mom” has sent us lots of pictures and we think she’ll make a wonderful new family member.<\/p>\n

Today, we’re just kind of cruising through the gardens, checking the progress (or lack of it) of our plants and seeds. Both of us are sore from working several days in a row on hard projects. I think I’m going to do laundry and dishes to take it a little easy. We plan on going down to spend the Fourth of July with son, Bill and his family, plus David and his family, and Randie, our daughter, for a barbecue and get together.<\/p>\n
