Will is not only digging out the holes for the “pole barn” part of our new barn (with tractor auger and by hand), but is also continuing to work on our fence lines. He just finished the south fenceline of our small horse pasture and cleared off the north/south fenceline of our new 40 acres so he can begin fencing that, too. I helped run that straight through the woods from the two surveyed corners and two line points on the fenceline-to-be and boy, were the bugs bad! Usually they don’t bother me much, but I think everything that flew, crawled, fell, (and bit) was out that day! We still had a good time and marvel at all the good grass in that 40 acres. Won’t our animals be happy with that!

Today I’m packing up for the MREA fair in Custer, Wisconsin this weekend. I’m boxing up anthologies, books, and other goodies to join the boxes that Ilene Duffy has mailed directly to the fair. We’ll have a great selection of informative reading, T-shirts, and more on display (and for sale at real good prices, by the way). As always, if you come, be sure to wear your Backwoods Home Magazine T-shirt because you’ll be able to choose a free book or anthology to take home. No shirt? You can even buy one there, put it on, and collect your free book! Now that’s a real deal.

Luckily, my son, David will be staying home to man the fort and take care of the animals.

I hope to see a whole bunch of my BHM family there. Be sure to stop by and say hi! Will, Tom, and I will be at the booth all three days and will be tickled to meet you. — Jackie

It’s back to work after that gorgeous wedding day.
