We took a drive along the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness on the Echo Trail. We&#8217;d talked about doing this for two years now, and Will surprised me yesterday morning by whisking me away, not even saying where we were headed. What a surprise! We explored wild lakes, saw moose tracks, a Bald Eagle, ate wintergreen berries, and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and the day. Even when you work hard, you need a little time off once in a while to avoid homestead burnout &#8212; sometimes even we forget that. I&#8217;m so glad we went!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/JackieClay\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Wintergreen-blueberries.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2632\" title=\"Wintergreen-blueberries\" src=\"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/JackieClay\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Wintergreen-blueberries.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"446\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/JackieClay\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Will-berries.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2633\" title=\"Will-berries\" src=\"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/JackieClay\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Will-berries.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"446\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oh, by the way, I set a trap for the turkey\/chicken-eating fox and caught the bugger. The poor thing was just skin and bones. It must have had something wrong with it as there is plenty of wild prey out there. Our cat, Mittens, catches several voles, mice, and other critters every single day.
