It&#8217;s amazing how much of the rotten stumps and brush had composted over summer. Much had turned to black dirt. He pushed the rest together in piles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/JackieClay\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Discing.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2663\" title=\"Discing\" src=\"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/JackieClay\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Discing.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"446\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, I&#8217;m still getting the homestead tucked in for winter. I cleaned the chicken coop, finished putting trunk covers on the orchard trees, and am working at getting the garden cleaned up.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/JackieClay\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Chicken-coop.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2664\" title=\"Chicken-coop\" src=\"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/JackieClay\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Chicken-coop.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"446\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also gave some friends some of our extra chickens because chicken feed has increased so much in price and we really didn&#8217;t need that many birds.
