I recently spent some time with a young couple I\u2019ve known for years, good kids who grew up in small towns in the American heartland, as did both their parents. They grew up in rural places with rural values, including Family with a capital \u201cF.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Recently, they received the sad news that their plans to have children were not going to be biologically possible. They are now exploring adoption, and finding out that it\u2019s complicated and time-consuming (as placement of a child certainly should be, and as they expected.)\u00a0 However, they\u2019re also finding that it\u2019s unexpectedly expensive.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This surprised me too.\u00a0 It\u2019s WAY outside of my subject matter expertise.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 So, on behalf of these good young people, I\u2019d like to ask something of all y\u2019all.<\/p>\n
