He asked, \u201cMas, how would YOU feel if they passed a \u2018one-gun-a-month\u2019 law in the free state where YOU live?!?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I replied, \u201cHell, I\u2019d find the money somehow\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was not amused.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t blame him. He was right and I was wrong. Arbitrary restrictions on productive members of society are nothing to joke about.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t care how many firearms responsible, law abiding citizens own.\u00a0 I care that evil people don\u2019t have access to them.\u00a0 And, more important, I care that evil people be put away where they don\u2019t have access to INNOCENT VICTIMS\u2026and that their potential victims have the wherewithal to fight back against the evil, and prevail.<\/p>\n<p>This good news from The Old Dominion is the latest in a compelling history of victories for gun owners\u2019 civil rights over recent years.\u00a0 At the time they enacted \u201cone gun a month\u201d in Virginia, there were several states where there was no provision at law for a law-abiding citizen to carry a concealed handgun in public to protect themselves and their loved ones. Now, in 2012, just one of those remains: Illinois, which came surprisingly close to getting shall-issue concealed carry last year, and hasn\u2019t given up yet.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re winning, state by state, but we can\u2019t become complacent.
