{"id":1732,"date":"2012-04-06T20:10:57","date_gmt":"2012-04-07T00:10:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/MassadAyoob\/?p=1732"},"modified":"2012-04-06T20:10:57","modified_gmt":"2012-04-07T00:10:57","slug":"gun-and-ammo-shortage-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/MassadAyoob\/gun-and-ammo-shortage-coming\/","title":{"rendered":"GUN  AND  AMMO  SHORTAGE  COMING?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We\u2019ve all heard that amusingly hypocritical line, \u201cLay in a big supply before the hoarders get it all!\u201d\u00a0 Indeed, we shooters all lived through that in 2008 and for a good time after.\u00a0 People who feared the Obama administration would make good on the new President\u2019s previously declared wishes to ban assault rifles bought up every AR15 and AK47 clone in sight, and ammo was so scarce people were waiting in line to buy the six measly boxes that WalMart allowed per customer.\u00a0 Some of those folks in line were gun dealers, who took the six boxes back to their own shops to sell for inflated prices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/MassadAyoob\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Ammo_Blog.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-1733\" title=\"Ammo_Blog\" src=\"http:\/\/backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/MassadAyoob\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Ammo_Blog-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/MassadAyoob\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Ammo_Blog-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/MassadAyoob\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Ammo_Blog.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Whether you call yourself a survivalist, a prepper, or simply self-reliant, it makes sense to \u201cbuy it cheap and stack it deep\u201d when it\u2019s something you need, like food or medicine.\u00a0 At least in terms of ammo, it\u2019s too late to \u201cbuy it cheap,\u201d but since I need a continuing supply of ammunition for training and match shooting, I\u2019m stacking it deep right now myself.\u00a0 The rumor mill whispers of coming shortages, due partly to the strongly-grounded perception that the Obama administration\u2019s anti-gun leanings will come out of the closet once he\u2019s re-elected. There are also certain other market factors.\u00a0 Foreign countries fearful of the second term President pulling US troops out of their countries are rumored to be ordering small arms ammo in large quantities from US manufacturers, who have a finite production capacity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Much has been made of Homeland Security\u2019s recent contract with ATK for 450 million rounds of Federal HST 180 grain hollow point ammo, caliber .40 Smith &amp; Wesson.\u00a0 I don\u2019t see that as a harbinger of martial law and civil war as some do.
